Simple. Sturdy. Utterly essential.
Not every building in a fortress is grand or glorious — but try running a castle without storage space. Where do you keep the extra tools, firewood, dried oats, spare rope, broken gear waiting to be mended? The humble shed has the answer.
Tucked against a wall or standing alone in the yard, the wooden shed tells a quiet story of everyday life behind the battlements. This is where squires grab their gear, where the smith tosses his coal, where someone hides a flask of mead for later.
Someone in the castle lost a key? I'd start looking here.
It may not draw the eye like the keep or the forge, but the castle would be lost without it.
