They open with a creak that every guard knows by heart. Charred slightly by torches, worn smooth by gauntlets, and heavy as regret — these doors have seen more than their share of footsteps and secrets.
This is no grand gate. No place of ceremony or triumph. And yet, it's one of the most vital thresholds in the fortress. A link between towers. A passage between quiet watchfulness and sudden alarm. The kind of door you barely notice… until it slams shut during a midnight raid.
How many feet have passed here? How many hushed orders whispered? How many bootsteps in the dark, rushing toward the sound of horns? If the hinges could speak, they'd tell of ambushes thwarted, traitors chased, arrows loosed from the shadows above.
Not every part of a castle is glorious. But some — like this door — are indispensable.

Wall doors allow quick movement between buildings and the ramparts. They’re easy to overlook, but in times of crisis, they become lifelines — enabling defenders to reposition, resupply, or regroup. Place them where visibility is limited or access is vital. And remember: walls without doors are walls where men get trapped.
In most cases, you will need a doorway at each location where a wall meets a building or tower.
